Handmade: Pins

I am super into pins (as you could see by my past pin collection), so I just had to try this craft out. Read on to find out how to make these pins of your own.

What You’ll Need:

  • Shrinky Dink paper
  • Pin backings
  • Scissors
  • Black Sharpie
  • Acrylic paint
  • Hot glue gun

Now that we have that settled, it’s time to start creating. Draw out on the Shrinky Dink paper the pin you want. Make it bigger than the size you want it to end up because, as you can tell by the name, the paper shrinks. Use the acrylic paint (watered down slightly with water) to fill in your design. The more watered down your paint is, the less clumpy your pin will appear. Next, re-outline everything with the Sharpie. Cut out your pins and place them on a baking sheet. Slip that into the oven at 250 degrees. They should be done in five minutes. If the pin is curled up, gently place something sturdy (like maybe a textbook?) over the pin while its hot to unfurl it. Hot glue the backing to the pin, and you’re done.
