My friend Claire and I drove down to Tanaka Farms in Irvine to pick some strawberries. It was awesome, if you were wondering.
Tanaka Farms is a quaint farm that has strawberries, melons, corn, and some other produce. On weekends, you don’t have to make a reservation, just show up and attend one of their half-hourly tours. For the tour, you get to ride around in a tractor which is pretty awesome. You also stop along the way to taste sweet corn, tomatoes, bok choy, and carrots. Then, you’re dropped off where the strawberries are, and you can pick as many as you can fit into a box.
The environmental science student in me is so excited to support a farm that is so sustainable! Tanaka Farms uses conservation practices like drip irrigation and crop rotation.
